Pike's Peak

We took the Cog Railway to the top of Pike's Peak while visiting Colorado Springs.  We bought our tickets the night before which gave us some prime seating that day.

This was another of Hannah's picks for our Spring Break Trip.

The views were spectacular.

Mallory even enjoyed the ride.

Our train did break down midway up the mountain.  After fearing that we would have to retreat back down and start again, the engineer proclaimed that the electrical problem had been fixed so we continued on.

Our view towards Colorado Springs.

It was cold and blustery at the peak.  The temperature was 13 degrees with a wind chill of zero.

We had time to rest and adjust to the altitude in the gift shop.

Matthew and Hannah adjusted to the altitude much better than their parents.

Poor Mallory got very dizzy and actually fell down.  She wasn't too sure of the awkward feeling at the peak.

Todd did buy some fresh donuts from the bakery.

Mallory and Hannah wanted some more proof of our venture to Pike's Peak.

Here was our view on the descent down the mountain.  Breathtaking!
The 3 1/2 hour trip was well worth it!
