Girl Scout Ceremony

Hannah's Daisy Troop concluded the year
with an Award's Ceremony.

Hannah, Skylar, Zoe', and Rylee

The girls received awards for their cookie sales and spring accomplishments.

They have been a tight-knit group with some great leaders.

Hannah earned all her patches so I guess I will be sewing glueing them to her smock.

And it begins.......SUMMER.

Summer.
My favorite thing- Gardening and Flowers.
Pure Joy.

Todd's least favorite thing-  Sprinkler Repairs.

Our Memorial Day

Todd worked at the railroad on Monday.  The steam engine always makes it's seasonal debut on Memorial Weekend.

The kids and I were working on the yard when Todd called and said that he would be engineering.

We dropped everything and headed down to the depot.

Hannah was very excited to see her dad "drive" the train.

It was a BIG moment for our family, especially Todd.

It still amazes me that this very train sat in the park just blocks from our house and was played on by children for decades.
To think that it is now operational is quite the accomplishment!

Afterwards, the kids and I visited the cemetary.  I was pleased with all the questions that Matthew and Hannah were asking about Memorial Day.
Thank you to all who serve this great country.

Horse Show

We spent Sunday at the Horse Show in Abilene.
Jackie, Taylor, and Amanda were participants.
I wanted to feed Hannah's horse love a little more by watching our friend's participate in the different events.

Mallory enjoyed the afternoon and kept busy with all the little babies and toddlers in the stands.

Hannah kept maneuvering around the stands to get a better view.
This was my favorite picture from the day taken by Amanda's Dad.

Picnic at the Park.

We started off our Memorial Weekend with a picnic at the park.
It was hot but still an enjoyable time.

Feeding the Ducks.

Before our surprise visit to Grandma Shirley, I took the kids by one of my favorite memories of childhood.

As a kid, Grandma would take us to the local grocery store to buy a loaf of bread and then to the local cemetary to feed the ducks.

This was the first time for my kids to have this experience.

Lifting Spirits.

My Grandma Shirley was in a terrible wreck and has been in the hospital recovering.  For my typically busy-on-the-go Grandma this was a tough adjustment.  Not much keeps her down.
However, it weighed heavy on her all the end-of-school events that she would miss.

My sisters and I surprised her with a visit from all 7 great-grandchildren on Mother's Day of all days.
It was a wonderful surprise and
probably one of the best Mother's Day gifts.
Being the crafty person that she is.....My sister, Brandy, had the kids make some wonderful handprint art.

In the hospital room of all places! :)

The extent of my craftiness.

Since Hannah's first year of school (Kindergarten) was also a first time teaching for her teacher, Mrs. Brown, we wanted to do something special.

I am not a crafty person.
But I think I did pretty well on this.

We took a large clay pot and painted it with
3 coats of white spray paint.

Hannah and I went through her class roster and printed head shots of each student in a 3x5 size using regular printer paper.

We then used Mod Podge and glued all the photos around the pot and then sealed them with a layer of Mod Podge.

We added some paint and the phrase "My First Kindergarten Class 2011-2012" and planted a red geranium.

Her teacher loved it!
